The Centre is funded through grants from organisations such as the Department of Internal Affairs and Wairarapa REAP and from income made through renting our rooms and offices to local businesses, community groups and for private functions. We’ve also received many generous donations from the public over the years – everything from people’s free time and hard work through to donations of firewood to keep the Centre cosy during the chilly Featherston winter.
We would in particular like to thank these groups, individuals and businesses for their generous in kind assistance, volunteer time and services so far in 2016:
Janice’s Lawnmowing Services, Featherston’s Menz Shed, Dick Smith, Ian Simons, Chris Miller, Mary Faber, Aaron Cross, JNL Masterton, The Chimney Man, Paul Mason, All Season’s Tree Services, and City Care. We would like to welcome recent volunteers Kirsten Bett and Alan Brook, and acknowledge ongoing volunteers Jocelyn Konig, Chris Lewis, Jenny Whyte, Elsa Kelly and the rest of the folks from Featherston Community Garden Group, and the Toy Library Crew!
The Lottery Grants Board and COGS, managed under the Department of Internal Affairs have been particularly generous over the last few years supporting us with wages for the Centre’s manager and other operational funding. This has proved crucial in allowing the Centre to be managed as efficiently and effectively as it is.
